Dental Insurance

Everyone wants dental insurance. Know why? The need for dental work at some time or another is inevitable. Few escape the dentist. Thus we have dental insurance and the need thereof. The very nature of this need causes a little bit of a problem though. You see, insurance is the transfer of risk. This is a transfer of risk for unknown and unforeseen events (in this case dental work) yet to happen. But, this is dental work we are talking about. We KNOW we will need to go to the dentist. When insurance companies agree to accept risk in exchange for a premium. They know a certain percentage of policyholders will not have many, if any, claims against the policy. This is not so of dental insurance. Everyone will use it, this is almost guaranteed. By definition, that is not a transfer of risk, but a liability. What does this mean ? Higher cost to dental insurance companies and a higher premium quote for us. Yes, I know my dentist all to well. Discount Dental Plans What you will find in your search for dental insurance is pretty much the same everywhere you look. First off is discount dental plans. A discount dental plan is not an insurance plan. You will receive discounts from retail according to a predetermined schedule. These plans have no pre-existing limitations or benefit limits like you find with dental insurance. Dental Insurance Plans True dental insurance is available on a group basis, which is often a group of five or more unrelated individuals and paid for by a single employer as a benefit for employment. Individual dental insurance can also be purchased for one person or as a family dental insurance plan. What these plans will have in common is waiting periods, pre-existing limitations and an annual monetary cap on benefits. It is difficult for the insurance company to make the plan too rich in benefits, and stay in business to offer coverage. The greater the dental benefits are the more work we tend to have done. It’s a little like trading dollars. Over a years time we give them $700 and they give us back $1000 in benefits. If we need the dental work, I always do, it’s worth it. If you anticipate needing less work then the discount dental plan is the way to go. Dental Insurance Quote Take a look at the different types of dental plans and get a quote. You will know by the quotes what the best option is for you, whether it's a discount dental plan or true dental insurance.

Medical Insurance Quote

Medical insurance has certainly changed over the years. It has evolved or adapted to the changing cost of health care. Medical insurance back in the day used to only be a hospital indemnity type. This was coverage that paid $25 a day for a hospital room. Yes, imagine that! Now that is the cost of a single aspirin. As the cost of medical care has risen so has the daily benefit. Also what have been added on are surgery benefits and other items related to a hospital stay. Today medical insurance has become major medical insurance. The daily room rate plans are still with us, but beware, they will not cover your expenses should you be hospitalized. Any individual or family can afford to go to the doctors office and buy a few prescription drugs for occational need, but no one can afford to go to the hospital without adequate insurance in place. If a daily room rate type insurance plan is all you can afford, buy it, don’t hesitate. So many want to buy super low cost coverage or better yet a cheap plan. This is understandable, because it cost money to live but often the cheap or low cost type coverage is not going to cut it. Remember, we’ve graduated to major medical insurance now. Year after year 50 % of all bankruptcies are due to unpaid medical bills. That’s why I say if all you can afford is the low cost plan, then buy it. Ultimately we buy insurance to protect our financial health. When you compare the cost of a private medical insurance quote or a family plan quote to the cost of a single hospital stay, it’s a bargain. You're online and that is the perfect place to shop for a medical insurance quote. There are many plans to choose from online. Read all of the plan descriptions carefully and call the brokers of the sites providing quotes with any questions you have.

Homeowners Insurance Quote

The largest single investment most people make in life is in their home. Homeowners insurance is what you need to protect that investment. This insurance is a package policy, consisting of different types of coverage for the house, its contents, additional living expenses and personal liability claims against the policyholder and other members of the household, plus medical payments to non-family members injured in or around your home. The policy holder pays a single insurance premium amount for the com- bination of these coverages. When you purchase homeowners insurance, it is important to remember to shop for homeowners insurance in the same way that you shop for any other insurance product. Be sure to compare prices, features, and reputation. It's tempting to say "Just give me what you think I need" but It is always wise to compare the coverages on your own, so you can determine what is best for you. Always try to plan ahead so you know what you need when purchasing homeowners insurance. Don’t make such an important decision on the spot. This is your home, not the insurance agent’s or lender's. So take the lead in deciding what level of homeowners insurance to buy and how much of it you need. It's a good idea to purchase "replacement value" coverage instead of actual cash value. The cost difference is small and it's better coverage. An often overlooked and misunderstood option in Backup insurance. This protects you if the municipal sewer systems fail and backup into the house. It happens more than one would think and could easily cost $5,000 - $13,000 to clean up. No, the munipality does not have to pay your clean up bill. Shop around, prices for identical coverage can vary greatly between different insurers. Get several quotes before buying and pay special attention to the exclusions.

life insurance secure

Happy New Year! Now that 2007 is over, it is time to think of the resolutions you want to make for 2008. According to USA.gov, the five most popular New Years resolutions were as follows: 1) lose weight, 2) pay off debt, 3) save money, 4) get a better job, and 5) get fit. Maybe your resolution made the top 5? If your resolution is to save money this year, or you need to save to pay off your debt, one way to save that you might not be aware of is finding savings on your life insurance policy. There are five basic ways to save on your life insurance policy: (i) shop around and compare multiple quotes; (ii) select the term length that is appropriate for you; (iii) buy only the amount of coverage you need; (iv) check for price breaks; and (v) buy when you’re young. Shopping Online and Comparing Multiple Quotes The amount you pay for term life protection depends on the amount and term-length of your policy, your health and age, and the insurance company you select. To find the best price though, make sure to shop and compare quotes from multiple companies. As you will learn, the cost of the same policy can vary by hundreds of dollars among different insurance companies. Just as your needs are always changing, so are term life insurance rates. Selecting the Appropriate Length of Coverage Everyone has different life insurance needs; therefore, there isn’t a one size fits all solution when it comes to term life insurance. While it may make sense for people in their 30s and 40s to secure a 20-year term length, a 10-year term might be more appropriate for someone nearing retirement. Individuals who have 30-year mortgages for example, might consider a 30-year term life policy to ensure that the home is protected throughout the life of the loan. Determining the Right Amount of Coverage In shopping for term life insurance, many agents may try to sell you more coverage than you need. Understand that the purpose of life insurance is to replace financial loss, and what most people should be looking for is income replacement” for their beneficiaries. Financial planners recommend a policy amount at least equal to 6-10 times your annual gross income. Checking for Price Breaks: Paying Less for More Insurance companies are known to offer price breaks at certain coverage amounts (e.g., $500,000 vs. $750,000). Many people can actually pay less money for more coverage. Check how little your prices increase when you when you change your coverage to $250,000, $500,000, or $1,000,000. Buying When You're Young While your financial needs may be lower at a younger age, the rates are also substantially cheaper when you're young. The best advice is to lock in as much protection at a young age while your health and prices are still good to avoid paying substantially more when a shorter-term policy expires. Even if saving money wasn’t your top resolution for 2008, saving money on your life insurance policy is easy enough that you can achieve two New Years resolutions this year.

Health Insurance Companies Easing Burden of High COBRA Costs

Senate Health Committee Chairman, Senator Kemp Hannon, announced a part of the recently adopted a new budget, which enables health insurance companies to carry individuals under their parent's policy to age 25, instead of age 19 for those who do not go to college and 23 for those who do. The part of the bill, announced at a University Student Center during a June 1 press conference, will be a relief to many parents and young people facing extremely high COBRA costs when their child reaches the age of ineligibility under their plan, but is either still in school or searching for employment. The legislation also assists those young 20-somethings who are bearing the brunt of their own health insurance costs by enabling them to obtain health insurance coverage through their parents. "We have to be realistic," Senator Hannon said. "With double and triple majors and five-year master's programs, many of our young people are not graduating college when they are 21 anymore. Burdening them and their families with COBRA costs is unfair."

What Should You Do When Your Auto Insurance Lapses?

Letting your auto insurance lapse can have disastrous consequences for you and for your bank account. If you fail to make a payment, you won't have the coverage you need if you're involved in an accident. Additionally, you will be forced to pay higher premiums when you do find new insurance. Driving without insurance simply isn't an option. Not only is it illegal but you could face even greater financial hardship in the even of an accident, even if the accident isn't your fault. If you've experience an auto insurance lapse, then below are some tips to help you find new coverage at an affordable rate. * Look for cheap car insurance - Just because one company wants to charge you a fortune for coverage, that doesn't mean you have to sign on the dotted line. Instead, shop around. You can go online and get auto insurance quotes that you can compare. Make sure the policies are similar in terms of coverage - don't just assume the lowest monthly cost is the best one. Don't make a decision until you've compared at least five auto insurance quotes. * Drop collision - Collision coverage is one of the most costly parts of your auto insurance. While you may have to hold onto collision if you still owe money on the car, you could take out a personal loan to pay off the balance then use the money you saved on your premium to pay off the loan. If you're not sure if the difference in price would be worth it, get auto insurance quotes with and without collision coverage. * Talk to your insurance agent - If you've only missed your payment by a few days or if you've been a good payer for a long time, your agent may go ahead and offer you auto insurance renewal. That's good news because you'll probably either continue paying the same or just slightly higher premiums. Agents won't always do this but it's absolutely worth trying. * Ask about discounts - You'd be surprised at the number of discount programs many insurance companies offer. Generally, agents won't volunteer the information either because they make more money when you pay more money. Make sure to talk to the agents about discounts for good drivers, non-smokers, etc. * Pay per 6 months - Many people choose the monthly payment option for their auto insurance because it seems more convenient and affordable to pay a small amount each month over a bigger amount every few months. The truth is that you'll end up paying a lot more for the monthly payments. Most insurance companies charge an additional monthly fee, plus you may have to pay one month in advance in case you miss a payment in the future. * Start shopping around when your life situation changes - After you turn 25 or get married, your rates will take a dramatic drop. If none of the above issues help lower your costs, wait until you reach these milestones and you'll end up paying less. Of course, the best course of action is to keep your policy active. Even if you lose your car or can't afford the payments, you're better off canceling the policy then letting it lapse.
